Objectives
- McDonalds were looking to provide a relevant reward to their customers during the launch of Despicable Me 4.
Strategy
DRG designed and developed a white label, i-solution to provide savings at hundreds of cinema locations across the UK, aligning with the new release of Despicable Me 4.
The campaign ran for 4 weeks, launching on 31st July 2024, until the 27th of August covering the key school summer holiday period.
The initiative behind the campaign period was to allow families to enjoy watching the new release of Despicable Me 4 at a heavily discounted price. The campaign also enabled customers to make additional savings on cinema snacks, drinks and popcorn bundles.
The campaign was delivered via an on-pack promotion across 10 million Happy Meal boxes, allowing customers to scan the QR code and sign up with the unique code displayed on the outer panel of the box. Once registered, customers received 30 days access to the discounted portal, allowing McDonalds customers to take advantage of other blockbuster releases across the summer period. This meant that everyone who purchased a promotional Happy Meal pack within the time frame qualified for the reward.
Results
- 52k unique QR code scans
- Delivered over 23k redemptions
- Over £30k spent within 4-week campaign window
- Over £9k saved within 4-week campaign window
- McDonalds customers made an overall saving of 32% in comparison to going direct
